Jayne Lewis is a household name in hair and beauty. We’re honored to have her as a jury member for the Keune Hairstylist Awards. Jayne is the Executive Director of Hairdressers Journal International, Salon International, the British Hairdressing Awards – all dedicated to the professional industry. Time for a catch-up with the industry veteran.

Hi Jayne, lovely to have you! Please, tell us a bit about yourself.
“I have worked in the hair and beauty industry all my working life and I love it. The people make it a pleasure and the passion, commitment and tenacity of stylists leave me in absolute awe. I am so fortunate that I get to spend time with great people all in the name of work, and the adage ‘choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life’ is certainly true for me.
“When I am not working, I love to spend time with my family, and I am the proudest mum of twin boys. I live in Surrey with my family and the house is certainly noisier again as my sons have returned home after three years at university.”
How would you describe your career in a nutshell?
I have been part of the industry since forever, and worked on magazines, exhibitions, awards and online titles. Before becoming Group Editor, I was a journalist working across all content channels – a role I absolutely loved. I now have wider responsibility across the business and work closely with our content, awards, operations, and commercial teams.”
What do you consider the value of the Keune Hairstylist Awards?
“Awards help stylists challenge themselves and are a fantastic creative outlet so that entrants can immerse themselves in doing what they love the most.”

“Create an image that reflects who you and your brand are – you have to love it and be proud to call it yours. So do what you do best and don’t try to reproduce what you think the judges are looking for, or what has won before. Authenticity wins.”
